About The Pequod Photography

Welcome to the photography section of The Pequod. If a picture speaks a thousand words, then the literary content that forms much of The Pequod site is overshadowed by the images you will find here in my photoblog. As you will tell by looking at the Google Map, I am based in the Northeast of England, with most of my images reflecting the landscape and culture of that region: passionate people and passionate places make for passionate pictures! You can find out more about me in the main part of The Pequod site.

Like many other amateur photographers, having found it difficult to learn the trade with expensive film, the advent of digital photography has opened up my photographic horizons. I have been taking photography seriously for around five years. Many of these photographs will reflect the fact that I am on a learning curve rather than achieved as an artist, and I often post images that test different techniques. Hence if you enjoy looking at these images or have any critical suggestions, your comments on every image are appreciated.

With my writer's hat on, I also blog regularly on issues relating to Photography and Art.

Equipment

Photography, like all good hobbies, involves inane facts and figures that are only of interest to those in the know. I blogged about photographer's lust recently but, unashamed of my own greed and for all fellow photographic geeks, here is some information about my kit:

Photoblogs I Like

Although one could always visit galleries and keep scrapbooks of good images from which to learn, one of the beauties of online photoblogs is that they contain a host of other information attached to the image, from EXIF data to the photographer's comments. I feel that looking regularly at different photoblogs is one of the best ways of learning new techniques and finding inspiration. Here are a few that I particularly like:
