Hooray!

In the middle of our complex remembrance
We three on the sofa shift,
Ballasted with our loads of food.
The afternoon clock slowly drifts
Towards the queen’s crude
"Speech!" and tea at six.
The washing up ought to be done
But it can wait today
Because some one was born.
At least, that’s what they all say.
