About Me

This blog started as a record of my postgraduate life, as I did a PhD in English Literature at a UK University. Now teaching English part-time at two universities, I still comment on university life, whilst also keeping a Daily Diary of my reading.

Naturally, this blog reflects my interest in literature, and my research in science and culture. When not staring at books, I look down the viewfinder of my camera as a photographer. I also blog on politics and the environment.

Seen on a toilet door in the gents' toilets of my esteemed university - next year's literary theory exam question:

Since writing on toilet walls is done neither for critical acclaim, nor financial rewards, it is the purest form of art. Discuss.

I'm actually rather proud that our institution produces such a high calibre of graffiti artist. Perhaps this could go forward as evidence of our Teaching Quality scores...?
